red river ex

I really wish I had photos to show you of this event, but alas the photos have been corrupted by my beloved iMac, which just couldn't handle copying photos off of a PC external hard drive. Frustrating. Have since managed to resolve the issue, but it was disappointing to say the very least.
This year we went to the Red River Ex, which is something that has been on my list of "things to do while I live in Winnipeg" for a very long time. It's basically the same thing as the PNE. Although I think the PNE is classier (or could it be that I'm getting older and more sensitive to the unbearably immodest dress that many were wearing, as well as just a general sense of throwing money out the window).
Either way, we managed to have some fun. Michael and I had a coupon so our entrance fees and rides were less expensive. We did take in a few rides, but patience wore thin as we had to wait in long line ups. We also kept getting stuck in line next to a guy in a wife beater shirt, with a naked woman tattooed on his arm, in a lot of detail, and planted just so that the breast was constantly stretching over his bulging biceps. I am all for artistic expression and I happen to think the human form is quite beautiful, after all, God created it. I just don't understand this guy's tattoo, and I don't understand how any female would be ok hanging off an arm that had such a picture on it. Am I missing something?
Aside from rides, we just enjoyed fair food. Delicious bison burgers, an elephant ear/beaver tail. Watching the tiger show with our friends Karl & Bea, checking out the butterfly house.
I've crossed it off my list, and I'm happy for that, but I don't think I'll be making it an annual must do event.
